Updated COVID-19 fall testing requirements for students

August 31, 2021

Dear Skidmore Students,

It has been great to see activity pick up on campus over the past week, in anticipation of the start of the fall term. We continue to closely monitor COVID-19 infection rates on our campus, in our county, and nationally and respond accordingly. The Skidmore COVID-19 Dashboard contains updated information about our vaccination rates, testing numbers, and testing results.

Out of an abundance of caution, and in addition to our pre-arrival and arrival testing protocols, Skidmore will now require that all students, regardless of vaccination status, test every seven days for the first five weeks of classes, through Oct. 8.

Weekly testing will be conducted at Falstaff’s every Monday through Friday. Testing hours will be posted to the Health Services website.

Student compliance with this requirement will be monitored, and students who miss testing will be in violation of Skidmore’s Code of Social Conduct. Test results will be communicated through the CoVerified app.

Skidmore is also requiring that all employees, regardless of vaccination status, participate in re-entry surveillance testing between Sept. 2 and Sept. 8. The complete fall testing policy for employees is posted to the Campus Planning website

The College will continue to closely monitor the situation within and outside of our community, as well as Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state, and local health guidance, and will adjust the testing program as necessary to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission on campus.

Please continue to check your email regularly for updates to COVID-19 mitigation and testing requirements as they become available.

With weekly surveillance testing, high vaccination rates among our students and employees, and the College’s universal indoor masking requirement during periods of “high” to “substantial” county transmission (a “yellow” status level on campus), we are taking the steps necessary to help ensure a safe start to the fall term.

We know we can do this, because we’ve done it before. Mitigating COVID-19 requires flexibility, patience, and respect and care for others — qualities we know you value and share.

We look forward to a great fall semester as we all continue to keep our community healthy and safe.

Sincerely,

Skidmore Health Services
