Skidmore to continue mandatory indoor masking

June 10, 2022

Dear Skidmore Community,

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is now classifying the COVID-19 Community Level in Saratoga County, New York, as "Medium.”

While this is promising and welcome news, as CDC guidelines can change on a weekly basis, and in consideration of the unique factors of a residential college campus, Skidmore is maintaining our indoor masking requirement for at least another week.

If the level remains consistent at “Medium” or changes to "Low" next week, any changes to the indoor masking requirement will be announced to the community.

A few additional reminders:

  • KN95 masks (or equivalent masks) are required in all indoor public spaces, subject to previously approved exceptions.
  • Indoor gatherings with food and drink continue to be permitted but may include additional safety and testing measures as conveyed by the event organizers and approved by the appropriate vice president.
  • Single events may offer the option of conducting rapid testing immediately in advance, with those testing negative permitted to attend and go maskless for the entirety of the event, should they wish. Such mask-optional events are subject to approval by the vice president overseeing the division or event and must include plans for how to administer and verify the tests.

As always, thank you for your continued adherence to these guidelines.

Sincerely,

Adrian Bautista and Donna Ng
