Updated COVID-19 protocols for visitors, gatherings, dining, and testing

March 11, 2022

Dear Skidmore Community,

Following up on last week’s COVID-19 message, we write today to share updated guidance intended to help everyone on campus plan gatherings, meetings, and events during the second half of the spring semester. We, of course, continue to monitor and assess the status of COVID-19 in and around our community and will make further adjustments if needed.

Assuming that conditions on campus and locally remain stable, we anticipate that, effective Monday, March 28, the guidelines below will go into effect.

Once again, our greatest asset continues to be our culture of care and our commitment to patience, flexibility, and understanding in all our interactions. Our hope is that the spring will see many important and celebratory events happening in safety and community. If anyone has questions or suggestions about these guidelines, please send them to covidfeedback@skidmore.edu.

Visitors

Please note: All visitors to campus are required to be fully vaccinated, including booster. Departments, programs, or offices may request proof of vaccination. Additional information may be found here

Gatherings and Meetings

Effective March 28, indoor gatherings and meetings of more than 60 people will be permitted indoors and no longer require special approval. (Normal procedures for approving events still apply and limitations may be set due to other factors.)

Food and Dining

  • Effective March 28, there are no further restrictions regarding dining or at events where food will be served.
  • Please note, however, that there are capacity limitations on the number of events that can occur at any given time. As the College shifts back to normal procedures for planning events, we ask that members of our community be patient and mindful of institutional capacity in areas that support events, such as dining, catering, campus safety, conferences and events, and facilities.

Testing

  • Beginning the week of March 28, optional on-campus PCR testing will move from the second floor of Murray-Aikins Dining Hall to Sussman Village Apartment A1. Parking is available throughout Sussman Village. Testing will be available Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday mornings.
  • Optional PCR testing will continue to be available for any member of our campus community who would like to be tested.
  • Rapid tests will continue to be available to students for pick-up at Campus Safety by calling ahead, or by appointment at Health Services for individuals who are symptomatic.

The College continues to closely monitor CDC guidance and local and regional case levels and, as always, will provide timely updates regarding any changes to policies, procedures, or guidelines.

Sincerely,

The COVID-19 Logistics Working Group
