Assistant vice president of students/senior associate dean of students
Luis Jimenez Inoa is the Assistant Vice President of Students/Senior Associate Dean
of Students at Skidmore College. Social justice and equity have been at the core of
his work throughout his career. His work is informed by generations of black feminist
and their commitment to inclusion, care, and conversation. This includes being the
founding director of a four-year program supporting first-generation, low income,
and undocumented students at his previous institution.
In his first year at Skidmore he has helped to start a work accountability group for students of color (look for them during midterms and finals), has assisted in the creation of the Transfer Peer Advisor pilot program, and is working on initiatives for first generation and low-income students (look out for the “Thoroughbred” First publication). Next semester, Spring ’19, he will be teaching a one credit spoken word and storytelling class.
He earned his Ph.D. in the Educational Policy Leadership program at the University at Albany, SUNY. His research focuses on Latino students and the impact of sports participation. Luis is the son of Maria and Jose Jimenez and identifies as a 40-something, 2.5 generation english-speaking Latinx, heterosexual, cis gendered male, middle-class, grandfather, father of four+, husband and lover of life.
