Commencement COVID-19 FAQs
We regret that we cannot hold Commencement as we traditionally have because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. It is very unfortunate that we find ourselves in this circumstance which compels us to think differently and take drastic actions to protect the health of those in our community and across the country. It is our intention to adhere to guidelines regarding large gatherings that are projected to go on for some time.
We know that Commencement represents an important culmination of four years of hard work by our seniors—and significant investments by their families. Members of the Class of 2020 will be engaged in ways that we can celebrate and appropriately mark this important milestone. We are planning to assemble a working group of student leaders and other members of the Skidmore community to help plan an exciting, reimagined Commencement that will occur when the time is right so that we can celebrate and appropriately mark this important milestone.
It is too soon to establish a new date when we can come together to celebrate Commencement. We will continue to explore various options to reschedule and do so in accord with guidance issued by local, state and federal agencies.
