Emily Lazar '93

Emily Lazar '93 won a Grammy for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for her work on Beck's "Colors" album. She is the first woman to win in the category.

 

Big Green Scream

The basketball teams host the Big Green Scream Feb. 16 against St. Lawrence University. Come early: The first 250 fans at both the women’s game (2 p.m.) and men’s game (4 p.m.) receive a free t-shirt. A family friendly (and free) Winter Carnival follows the men’s game.

Campus Notes

Meg Estapa, assistant professor of geosciences, Melanie Feen ’16 and Elly Breves, research associate in geosciences, published a scientific article.

 

Michael Janairo, manager of communications and strategic initiatives in the Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery, published a short story.

 

June Paul, assistant professor in the Department of Social Work, presented two papers and received honors for her doctoral dissertation.

 

 

 

Skidmore Spotlight

Sarah Delaney Vero, Esq.

Sarah Delaney Vero has served as interim chief human resources officer since September 2018, but her roots at Skidmore go much deeper. A labor and employment attorney, she began working with the College’s human resources team as outside legal counsel in 2008. She has also served as both interim Title IX coordinator and deputy Title IX coordinator.

Performance: Love and Death

Skidmore's Lionheart Brass Ensemble will perform Saturday, Feb. 16, 7:30 p.m. in Filene Recital Hall and feature music from Prokofiev's ballet, “Romeo and Juliet,” with readings from Shakespeare's play, as well as music from “West Side Story.”

 

Rescheduled: The Homerathon!

The annual reading of selections from “The Odyssey” has been rescheduled to Tuesday, Feb. 19, starting at 6 p.m. in the Surrey Williamson Inn. Food and soft drinks will be served. .

World Anthropology Day celebration and open house

The Department of Anthropology extends an invitation to its annual open house in celebration of World Anthropology Day, Thursday Feb. 21, 3-5 p.m. in the anthropology labs (Dana 348, Bolton 350, Bolton 380).

Thoroughbred Society

The Thoroughbred Society recognition ceremony will be held Monday Feb. 25, 5 p.m. in the Williamson Sports Center. The ceremony recognizes student-athletes who achieved a 3.67 grade point average or higher in the fall semester.
