Athletics
update
This weekend, Homecoming will feature
key home Liberty League contests. The women�s soccer team
hosts Vassar College at 2 p.m. Saturday, while the field
hockey team takes on William Smith at 3 p.m. Saturday and then
Nazareth in a non-league game at 1 p.m. Sunday. The volleyball
team hosts the Skidmore Invitational with matches at 7 p.m.
Friday and at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday. Read

Shop
The Skidmore Shop pop-up tent will be
at this year�s Homecoming Tailgate Party from 11:30 a.m. to 3
p.m. to cheer on our Thoroughbreds. The store location in Case

of sociology at St. Lawrence University, will deliver the
lecture �Networks of Media Power: Hacking Meaning and

Yi-heng Yang will perform Beethoven's

Mace Vaughan, co-director of the
Pollinator Program at the Xerces Society for Invertebrate
Conservation and author of �Attracting Native Pollinators,�
will speak about �Bringing Back the Pollinators: How Farmers,
Gardeners, Cities, and Schools Can Join the Global Effort to
Save Biodiversity� at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in Filene
Auditorium.

Award-winning author Mary Gaitskill
will deliver the Frances Steloff lecture at 8 p.m. Tuesday,
Oct. 15, in the Tang Teaching Museum.
Fall Skidmore Research
Colloquium
Feryaz Ocakli, associate professor in
the Department of Political Science, will speak about
�Authoritarianism Through Elections: Party Strategies and
Regime Change in Turkey� at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, on
the second floor of Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. The
presentation will be followed by a brief discussion period and
