enrollment
Skidmore employees are invited to
easy, on-the-spot enrollment for 2020 benefits from 7 a.m. to
1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, on the second floor of Murray-Aikins
Dining Hall. Flu shots and confidential biometric screenings
will be available. Meet Skidmore benefit vendors and
participate in a door-prize raffle.
Berlin Wall project on
campus
To mark the 30th anniversary of the
fall of the Berlin Wall on Nov. 9, 1989, students in WLL 263C
� The Berlin Wall have built a mini version of the Berlin
Wall across a
pedestrian path near Case Center, between Scribner Library and
Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. The wall will remain on campus
until Nov. 9, when it will be torn down. The project is
intended to invite conversations and reflections about walls
in history and our own time. For more information, contact Petra

Jacob Perlow event lecture
series
Howard Pollack of the Moores School of
Music at the University of Houston will discuss Jewish
American composers and how the legacy of Jewish immigration
impacted American musicals and operas at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 30, in Davis Auditorium.
Hub and Grub
Skidmore's IdeaLab invites faculty and
staff to attend free buffet lunches the week of Monday, Nov.
4, through Friday, Nov. 8, at noon each day at the Tang. There
will be planning demos, makerspace activities and
presentations by colleagues during this celebration of all

Matt McCarthy, assistant professor of
medicine at Weill Cornell and a staff physician at New
York-Presbyterian Hospital, will discuss his new book,
�Superbugs, The Race to Stop an Epidemic,� at 5:30 p.m.

Artist and furniture designer Ken
Landauer, whose work is on view in the Tang�s Atrium, will
engage in conversation with Levi Rogers, director of
sustainability programs and assessment at Skidmore, at 6 p.m.

In recognition of World Philosophy Day
(Nov. 21), the Philosophy Department has invited Stephen Angle
of Wesleyan University to give a talk, �How to be a Confucian
Feminist,� at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in Gannett Auditorium.
The talk will be accessible to a general
audience.

event
The Center for Humanistic Inquiry
invites the Skidmore community to Generations,
a celebration of Skidmore alumni/ae and their faculty mentors,
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, on the second floor of
Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. These alums, inspired by Skidmore
faculty, have gone on to impressive careers in a host of
professions and will share their current work and engage in a
dialogue with their faculty sponsors.
Event management system
training
Training
on centralized scheduling and use of the event management
system will be offered at 2 p.m. Nov. 12 and Nov. 14 and
at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 19 and Nov. 21 in Scribner Library room
222. Emphasis will be on adding services (catering and media)
and ordering meal tickets and linens. The new Surrey guest
room reservation system will also be discussed. Content can
also be personalized by contacting the instructor in advance.
