Hear from a Gaming Industry Leader: Fireside Chat with Frank Gibeau and Chris Emdin 

‌Join us from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, in Davis Auditorium for a conversation with Frank Gibeau, CEO of Zynga, moderated by Chris Emdin. They’ll discuss creativity, risk-taking, leadership, and careers in gaming. All are welcome.

‌Athletics pop-up sale 

‌From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, and Thursday, Dec. 4, a pop-up store will be set up in the McCaffrey-Wagman lobby. All items are new and unworn. Cash, checks, and Skid Cards will be accepted.

‌MSCHE Reaccreditation progress update 

‌Skidmore welcomed MSCHE Team Chair Jamila Bookwala, provost at Gettysburg College, to campus Nov. 7–8. Her visit was positive and affirmed the direction of our Self-Study. We are now finalizing the report and supporting evidence for submission by Feb. 1. The full evaluation team will visit March 29–April 1.

‌Changes to CDTA bus service to campus
‌

‌The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) has announced plans to make service changes to routes in Saratoga Springs, including service to Skidmore, effective Sunday, Nov. 30. Route No. 452, which currently serves campus, will no longer be in service, except for late night Skidmore service on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Riders will have access to CDTA’s FLEX On Demand service, an on-demand, point-to-point service that uses CDTA’s Navigator app. Click here to view an interactive map of Saratoga Springs FLEX Zone and FLEX Points.

Children's book drive

‌The Reading Minds Scribner Seminar is hosting a book drive to collect new and gently used books for babies, children, and teens through Friday, Dec. 6. All books will be donated to the Saratoga Children's Literacy League, which provides free books to the children of Saratoga County. Books can be dropped off outside the BTCIS 398 classroom. Contact Becca Johnson with questions.

‌EMS to open for spring semester 

‌EMS will open for spring semester scheduling on Dec. 4. Please reach out to the Scheduling Office if you would like training or a refresher on how to order catering, media services, or event setup. If you are planning a major College event or lecture and would like to check on dates available before Dec. 4, please email the Scheduling Office

‌Stop by the Tang for a four-day book sale Tuesday, Dec. 2, through Friday, Dec. 5, during museum hours. All books will be 25% off, with selected books priced between $5 and $10. Discount applies to in-person purchases; shipping is not available. Supplies are limited.

‌Spa and Burgees Café gift cards 

‌With the holiday season approaching, consider giving a Spa or Burgess Café gift card to a student, professor or colleague. Cards are sold in $5 increments and can be purchased by emailing John Winnek or Stacey Tourtellout.

Career Discovery Experience  

‌The Career Discovery Experience program is seeking hosts for Jan. 5–16. The program connects students with alumni and professionals for career exploration through flexible, half-day experiences. Hosts share their career stories and offer a glimpse into their day-to-day work. Register as a host.

‌Submit spring course material lists through the new requisition form by Friday, Nov. 26 to ensure materials arrive by the first day of class. For art materials, contact Evelyn Lee.

‌‌Skidmore Weekly Bulletin submission procedure and schedule

‌Help reduce bulk emails by posting your announcement in Skidmore Weekly Bulletin, which is distributed to all employees as well as to all students. Submit announcements and events, and faculty and staff achievements by completing the appropriate online form. The deadline for all submissions is noon on Monday. Email swb@skidmore.edu if you have questions or experience technical issues due to ongoing website updates. 

Athletics

The 19th annual Skidmore Thanksgiving Invitational hockey tournament will take place this weekend at the Saratoga City Rink. At 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, the Thoroughbreds will face Alvernia University, followed by Tufts University vs. the University of New England at 5 p.m. The consolation game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, with the championship game set for 4 p.m. Stay up to date with results and schedules on the Skidmore Athletics website and by subscribing to the Skidmore Athletics Weekly Newsletter.
