Philosophy and Mission
Decoda is a New York–based chamber collective composed of virtuoso musicians, entrepreneurs and passionate advocates of the arts. With the mission of bringing meaningful musical experiences to all audiences, Decoda explores creativity, community and identity through live performances and thoughtful methods of engagement. Now in its sixth season, Decoda’s projects and performances have reached audiences in schools, hospitals and prisons as well as in prominent concert halls across the globe. Recent travels have taken Decoda to the United Kingdom, South Africa, Germany, Abu Dhabi, Iceland, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Mexico and across the United States.
Decoda is the affiliate ensemble of Carnegie Hall. The artists of Decoda first collaborated with one another in the renowned Ensemble Connect (formerly ACJW) fellowship program, created by Carnegie Hall, the Juilliard School and Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute. Since 2007 Skidmore College has hosted Ensemble Connect twice annually for weeklong residencies.
