At Murray-Aikins Dining Hall, we have fun with our food, adding plenty of spins on the traditional dining experience— including an entire dinner dedicated to waffles to help students de-stress during finals, a whole day full of chicken fingers, and themed meals inspired by Alice in Wonderland , Game of Thrones , and more. Picked by Business Insider as the seventh-best college food in the U.S., everything from vegan specialties to international foods is whipped up by award-winning chefs every day. We’ve also gone completely trayless to cut down on food waste, and even get seasonal use of organic veggies from our campus garden. Skidmore’s Community Garden was inspired several years ago by our own students and support from the Sustainability Office. Located in the heart of campus, the garden annually supplies more than 1,000 pounds of organic food to Skidmore’s dining hall and the Saratoga Farmers’ Market. It also provides a venue for students interested in environmental issues, social justice, and economic development to learn about and build the local food movement.
