Skidmore Campus Viewbook

MAKE THIS PLACE YOUR OWN 6 I Here’s what green means to us. It’s more than just our school color. Sustainability is a major focus when it comes to stewarding our more than 1,000 acres of forested campus. Each year, scores of students work on projects that target waste, energy use, food transportation, and healthy living. In recent years, our Community Garden has produced more than 5,000 pounds of organic food for the dining hall. We’ve saved 50,000 tons of campus waste from the landfill, thanks to our student-run composting program, and we’ve cut 52% of greenhouse gas emissions since 2000 through efforts like the college’s BikeMore program. It’s all about creating environmentally responsible practices that have a positive impact on our community and our planet. 30 % OF CAMPUS ELECTRICITY GENERATED BY OUR HYDROELECTRIC DAM AND SOLAR FIELD 40 % OF CAMPUS BUILDINGS GEOTHERMALLY HEATED AND COOLED 94/100 GREEN RATING Princeton Review View our interactive sustainabilit y map: SK I DMO.
