• The purpose of the appeal is not to rehear the underlying case; rather, it is to determine if there is sufficient information presented to allow a reconsideration of the Hearing Board’s decision.

• Appeals must be made, in writing, to the Vice President/ Dean of Students and Vice Presi- dent for Student Affairs within 5 business days of the notification of the decision.

• The Vice President/Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Affairs may decide the appeal or ask the original Hearing Board to reconsider the case based on new infor- mation presented.

• The Vice President/Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Affairs will review the appeal and render its decision within 10 business days after receiving the notice of appeal.

• The decision of the Vice President/Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Affairs is final.

Guidelines for Sanctions

Sanctions preserve individual and institutional safety and integrity and, whenever possible and appropriate, help offenders to learn from their mistakes.
