Weight Loss

If you are overweight there are many reasons to lose weight. To have more energy, be healthier, look better, and feel better. Sensible goals and healthy approaches can help you be successful in your plan to lose weight.

Most overweight people should lose weight gradually (about 2 pounds per week) to protect their body and keep it healthy. Losing even 5-10% of your weight has been proven to improve your health.

Weight is influenced by the amount and type of food that you eat, your exercise level, your genetics, your age, and your health status. Any successful weight loss plan should take into consideration these factors.

If you want to lose weight:

  • Check with your doctor and make sure that your health status allows you to lower your caloric intake and increase your physical activity.
  • Follow a balanced diet but reduce your calorie intake so that you will lose a pound or two a week.
  • Make time in your day for exercise. You can start by taking the stairs at work or parking in the farthest, instead of closest, parking space and then add some regular activity that you enjoy, like walking.
