Wisam Khaleefah '11 left his native Iraq to study at the United World College of the Adriatic in Duino, Italy.

At Skidmore, he earned a bachelor’s in international studies before going on to obtain a master’s in peace studies from the University of Notre Dame.

Wisam now manages the International Refugee Resettlement Program at the American Red Cross in Indiana.

"Being a Davis United World College Scholar has opened many doors for me and allowed me to follow my life goals. I was challenged to do my best to serve others in need and to work for the cause of peace, justice, and mutual understanding," he reflects.

He adds, "I am extremely grateful for the unconditional love and support I have received from the Davis UWC Scholars Program. It has made it possible for me to live in a peaceful environment, complete my education, and follow my dreams. Without the help of Mr. Davis and Mr. Geier, I would not be where I am today, and I thank them for that. I will continue to support their efforts to provide invaluable educational opportunities to students from around the world."
