Adam Siegel is a NYC and Saratoga-based alto saxophonist who has regularly performed and recorded throughout the Hudson Valley and New York. As a longtime music educator, his focus is empowering students to gain freedom on their instrument and fluency in communicating their improvisatory vision. When he served as a teaching fellow at the Jazz Institute at Proctors, he worked with a wide range of ages and abilities to enable them to create their own ensembles and arrangements for public performance. Jan Granlie – editor-in-chief of the publication Salt Peanuts and formerly of Jazznytt – writes of a recent album release with Tani Tabbal: "Adam Siegel … is an excellent technician, and his creativity is certainly on par with [Henry] Threadgill. … there are many younger alto saxophonists who can learn a lot from the way he plays.” His teaching emphasis places the student’s unique sound at the center, helping remove obstacles in the way of developing their voice.
