SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College athletic department recognized 112 student athletes as members of the Thoroughbred Society in a ceremony held Feb. 12, 2018 at the Williamson Sports Center.

The group of students includes 15 student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA in the Fall 2017 semester. The women's basketball team had a 3.66 team GPA, while the men's ice hockey team had a 3.44 GPA.

The Thoroughbred Society was created to honor student-athletes who achieve a 3.67 GPA or higher during each calendar semester. It also honors teams who compile a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
 
Featured speakers were seniors Alexa Goldberg from women's tennis and Peter Lonergan from men's soccer. The pair shared their student-athlete experiences with athletes, faculty, and staff who attended the biannual event.
