"A true Skidmore fall semester"

Skidmore has embarked on a new fall semester that will be “unlike any other.”

Although many aspects of campus life are new  social distancing, mask wearing, weekly tests for COVID-19 and some courses held in tents  many other scenes from the first day of classes are more familiar: students picking up books, running to classes and catching up with friends.

According to Skidmore College President Marc C. Conner, the new term and academic year will require “heroic action” from students and all members of the Skidmore community to be successful.

“But the possibility of experiencing a true Skidmore fall semester, with great learning, memorable experiences, key activities and programs — this is precious, and it’s right here for the taking,” Conner said at virtual Convocation on Sunday, Aug. 23. “Let’s do it.”

Staff Photographer Sarah Condon-Meyers captured these scenes from the start of the 2020-21 academic year.
