A major National Science Foundation grant for Kelly Sheppard reflects his approach--focusing on basic science but also on education and outreach.- Geosciences Chair Kyle Nichols made an NSF-funded trip to Namibia this summer to learn first-hand the effects of unprecedented rains in that semi-arid country. Now home, he'll begin his analysis using new lab equipment purchased with the help of the U.S. Army.
