Kris CoveyKristofer Covey, visiting assistant professor of environmental studies and sciences, has received $50,000 in research support from a private donor. The unrestricted gift will support Covey’s research program at the College. 

R. ParthasarathyRajagopal Parthasarathy, professor emeritus of English, has published 11 poems, including eight translations from Sanskrit, Tamil and Hindi, in “The Bloomsbury Book of Great Indian Love Poems” (Bloomsbury, 2020). Among the poets translated are Bhavabhuti, Vallana, Nakkirar and Mira. Parthasarathy’s translation of “The Tale of an Anklet” was also one of six titles selected by the Tamil Nadu government to be distributed to school and college libraries in the southern Indian state. Parthasarathy’s translation of the fifth-century Tamil epic was published by Columbia University Press in 1993 and reprinted in India by Penguin Random House as a Penguin Classic in 2004 and 2018. “Thanks to R. Parthasarathy, The Tale of an Anklet joins ranks with the major world epics available in excellent English translation,” the PEN/Book-of-the-Month Club noted. 

Sarah DiPasqualeNancy Thebaut, assistant professor of art history, has published “The Double-Sided Image: Abstraction and Figuration in Early Medieval Painting," in the volume “Abstraction in Medieval Art: Beyond the Ornament” (Amsterdam University Press, 2021).
