Course Descriptions

Painting or Drawing (4 credits) – FALL AND SPRING
(Académie de Port Royal)

Students spend a minimum of six (6) hours per week in class painting or drawing nudes and/or a still life. (Two still-life displays are available, each lasting two weeks, and alternately renewed on Thursdays.) Students prepare one work for general comments from instructors and student peers. Additionally, each student must visit at least one exhibit and submit a one-page essay, in French summarizing his/her reactions and feelings relating to the exhibit. Class participants use the medium and technique of their choice, while receiving consistent feedback and instruction from the instructors, all of whom are professional artists. The final grade is based on individual progress, attendance, a sketch project, and the essay.
