Skidmore College, a highly ranked, residential, liberal arts college located on 1,000 acres of natural beauty in Saratoga Springs, New York, has launched a search for its eighth president.

With 2,500 students from 67 countries, 43 majors, 120 student clubs, funded research and internship opportunities, and 100+ study abroad programs, Skidmore offers a dynamic experience for students. Consistently acclaimed in national rankings, Skidmore has been recognized as one of “America’s Most Entrepreneurial Colleges,” a “Best Value” school and a “Hidden Ivy.”

Skidmore students, faculty, staff and visitors create and engage in an enlightened community that values human differences, intellectual exchange, social freedom, civic responsibility and global vision. Committed to achieving a balanced and heterogeneous campus, the college proactively recruits students who represent a cross-section of groups and societies within the United States and around the world.

Skidmore is committed to integrative learning as a means to prepare students to be socially responsible citizens in a complex world characterized by diversity and continual change. Integrative learning happens across disciplinary boundaries, through connecting curricular and co-curricular experiences, between the campus and the broader world beyond.

The Athletics Department is committed to pursuing academic and athletic excellence, and subscribes to the NCAA Division III philosophy and the concept of the student-athlete. The department provides the College’s diverse population with opportunities to maximize academic, athletic and life-skill potential through core values such as teamwork, leadership, discipline, lifelong fitness and service to others. Skidmore has produced 203 NCAA All-Americans and earned nine national championships and 83 conference championships.

Over the last decade, Skidmore has maintained financial stability and achieved balanced budgets — even through the 2008 Financial Crisis — while upholding the integrity of the educational experience for students and its commitment to academic excellence.

In 2018, Moody’s, the credit rating agency, gave Skidmore a favorable rating of A1 with a stable outlook, a significantly distinctive designation at a time when Moody’s also noted that the outlook for the overall higher education industry was negative. According to Moody’s, Skidmore’s rating is due, in part, to “strong student demand as a very selective small liberal arts college.”

Construction of the first phase of Skidmore's $127 million Center for Integrated Sciences began last spring, and Skidmore’s Board of Trustees recently approved a plan to combine the phases and accelerate the project, with expected completion in 2024. The Center is among the six priorities of the ongoing Creating Our Future: The Campaign for Skidmore, which has raised $178 million toward the goal of $200 million by 2020.
