Back at last

After delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, hundreds of alumni returned to campus for Reunion Weekend and opportunities to catch up with classmates and learn about exciting developments at Skidmore.

Alumni with class years ending in 0, 5, 1, and 6, whose Reunions had been postponed in 2020 and 2021, finally returned June 10-12 for a bustling weekend of events, the second of two dedicated to alumni celebrations.

“Have we ever been in more need of Reunion than now? After these two years of the pandemic and the separation and fragmentation it has created, can there be a more desirable reconnection than that with our alma mater, with our college days, and with our college friends?” asked President Marc Conner. “That’s what brings us together on this occasion, to the Skidmore that we love, to the Skidmore that we continue to support, to the Skidmore that launched us and that we continue to hold in our hearts.”

The weekend included tours of campus, including the new Billie Tisch ’48 Center for Integrated Sciences; opportunities to explore Saratoga Springs and the surrounding area; the chance to return to the classroom and learn again from Skidmore faculty; a North Woods nature hike; cherished Skidmore traditions, such as the Parade of Classes; many opportunities to gather with old friends; and much, much more.

President Conner hosted a breakfast in honor of the recipients of alumni awards, who were recognized for their service and achievements. Skidmore also paid tribute to those the community has lost. Live music, dancing, and a spectacular fireworks display topped off a weekend of renewed connections and excitement for Skidmore’s future.

Alumni Awards

The College held virtual celebrations previously to bestow Alumni Association Awards upon exceptional alumni who have given back to the College and demonstrated achievement in their careers after graduation.
