  • Visiting artists, workshops and special studio courses and
  • Pre-College Studio Art Program for talented high school students.

Summer art courses include:

Ceramics * Digital Foundations * Drawing * Painting * Printmaking/Bookmaking

Special offering during session 2: Research to Artwork

Explore the practice of performance- and process-based drawing, which ranges from private ritual to public presentation. Examples include the body as a drawing tool and using set rules and parameters for drawing in a given medium. Studio explorations will be conducted through presentations, performance exercises and projects, readings, discussion and critique.

About the Location

Our vibrant summer campus bustles with public events, creating a nightlife rich with opportunities for entertainment and enlightenment. Along with SSAP, the summer campus hosts the Skidmore Jazz Institute, New York State Writers Institute, SITI Company and Summer Dance Workshop. You won’t want to miss the Tang Teaching Museum, Schick Art Gallery and Arthur Zankel Music Center.

Skidmore’s campus is located in Saratoga Springs—perennially short-listed as one of the most interesting and vibrant small towns in the U.S. Saratoga has it all: a fascinating history, delightfully walkable downtown, charming coffee shops and bistros, a legendary folk club, four-star restaurants and neighborhood diners and arguably the world’s most beautiful and historic thoroughbred race track.
