Capital Area Climate Network

CACN is an email listserv, which enables climate activists to share information including events, legislation, and current developments. CACN communicates via emails, occasional conference calls, and sometimes even through a potluck meal!

Extinction Rebellion: Capital Region

XR is a movement that utilizes non-violent civil disobedience to stop mass extinction, climate breakdown, and minimize the risk of social collapse. Their mission is to mobilize people to change our current system to a regenerative culture. 

Capital Roots

Capital Roots offers a variety of programs with a mission to increase access to nutritious and affordable food and to green space. They aim to foster healthy communities through these programs, including community gardens and education. 

Soul Fire Farm

Soul Fire Farm is an Afro-Indigenous community farm in Petersburg focused on ending racism and food sovereignty. They are committed to activism, farming, and strengthening related social movements.

Sanctuary for Independent Media

The Sanctuary for Independent Media promotes social and environmental justice through art, science, and participatory action. It is a telecommunications production facility dedicated to fostering a space for local media arts in Troy. 

Sheridan Hollow Alliance for Renewable Energy (SHARE)

SHARE is a coalition of action groups dedicated to community, faith, environmental justice, and climate. Through their mission, they ended the proposed Sheridan Hollow fossil fuel plant that would impact communities of color. They are now working to redirect that funding toward renewable energy solutions.
