Course description

Review of grammar, extensive practice in conversation, writing,and reading of selected texts. The approach to the language permits comprehensive coverage of the basic structures and vocabulary of contemporary Italian. The use of Italian in dialogue situations will emphasize aural (listening) comprehension and especially SPEAKING.
Three hours of class and one hour of laboratory.

Attendance

Class meets three times a week. ATTENDANCE AND PREPARATION ARE REQUIRED (more than three classes missed will result in automatic lowering of final grade).

Grades

All written exams together = 60% of final grade; class participation
and preparation = 40%

1. Successful completion of FI102, its equivalent, or instructor's
     permission.
2. Participation in class. ATTENDANCE AND PREPARATION ARE REQUIRED
     (more than three classes missed will result in automatic lowering of
      final grade).
3. Homework assignments must be completed for each class.
