Here's the MTPII (Midi Time Piece II) interface (actually, two of them). This Interface controls the flow of all MIDI signals in the studio. The flow of all MIDI signals is controlled through this interface by using a computer program called "MTPII" on the studio Macintosh computer.

This picture shows several devices in this order:

top: Digital Time Piece interface: Responsible for digital sync of advanced studio projects. This device is used to READ VITC time code between the frames of video on a video tape. It extracts the timing information from the VITC time code and allows you to LOCK your MIDI Sequence and Synthesizers to the video (audio sound FX and music for video {MU353}).

2nd from top: MTPII (#1) Responsible for all MIDI work on beginner projects. NOTE: the bottom row of green lights should all LIGHT UP when you PRESS ANY KEY on the MIDI keyboard controller.

3rd from top: MTPII (#2) (we use two of these interfaces so we can have a maximum number of MIDI devices in our studio.

4th from top: Furman power conditioner AC device*this should always be on unless there's a thunderstorm nearby...in which case power down the entire studio.

The bottom unit in this picture is our Zsystems DIGITAL PATCH BAY. **IT'S POWER SHOULD ALWAYS BE ON, unless you have to execute a complete Power Shutdown due to an electrical storm.

The Digital Patch bay controls the flow of all DIGITAL SIGNALS in the studio. For example, all DAT machines, mixers, digital I/O for samplers, digital CD players, and more is all controlled by this interface. It is configurable only by the studio instructor (Prof. Holland) or a very advanced student who has permission to do so. Please ask FIRST if you think you need to work with this interface. Thank you!!
