A look at some of the major research contributions Skidmore students and faculty are making to our world together this summer.

 

Andrew Aikins '18 has signed a professional contract with the Garden City Wind of the Pecos League. The Pecos League is an independent baseball league which operates in cities in desert mountain regions throughout California, New Mexico, Southern Arizona, Kansas, West Texas and Southern Colorado.

Campus Notes

Diana Barnes, senior teaching professor of foreign languages and literatures, was interviewed for a July 8 Spectrum story about the recent Congress Park rally, Solidarity with Immigrants. Additionally, she was interviewed by The Alt for a July 11 story titled, “ICE breeds fear and resistance in Saratoga.

Jeffrey O. Segrave, professor of health and exercise sciences, is the author of “Five reasons why the United States is just not that into soccer,” an opinion essay published July 19 in Albany’s Times Union.

Tom Yoshikami, the Tang Teaching Museum & Art Gallery’s educator for college and public programs, was interviewed by The Alt for an article titled, “Upbeat on the Roof takes summer concerts to new heights.”

Marketa Wolfe, assistant professor of economics, was interviewed by S&P Global Market Intelligence for an article titled, “Trump lifted coal's spirits, but turning that into market success is a challenge.” The article explores the impact of President Trump’s tweets on company stock prices.

Lynn DiMenna works as a senior administrative assistant to Vice President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Mary Lou Bates.

 

“Being a part of this environment was a goal of mine since I moved to Saratoga in 2003,” said DiMenna. “The beautiful campus, highly respected reputation and proximity to my home drew me to Skidmore. I have stayed because I love my work. I get to meet with families and work with dedicated colleagues and students in a fun, yet always busy office.”
