“1984 Is So 2025!”
At 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, in Davis Auditorium, the League of Women Voters of Saratoga County will host a discussion of George Orwell’s novel “1984.” The event is part of the American Library Association’s “Banned Books Week” and led by Associate Professor and Chair of English Tim Wientzen will lead a community discussion on the novel’s ongoing significance since its publication in 1950.

Caramel apples at The Spa
Celebrate National Caramel and Custard Day at The Spa from 11a.m.- 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3. Every customer who buys a chef's feature, grill combo, or deli combo (meal plans not included) can create their own caramel apple and decorate it with assorted toppings. Celebrate the fun flavors of fall with a sweet treat that you create.
Dining Services bread orders
Dining Services is again accepting orders for its homemade breads. Orders are due by Friday, Oct. 10, for pickup from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, in the Atrium Café.
Encore faculty lecture series returns
The 45th annual Encore faculty lecture series for community members age 55 and older returns to the Arthur Zankel Music Center this fall. The subscription series will run Tuesday mornings from Sept. 30-Nov. 11. Current Skidmore employees are invited to attend a lecture without prior registration.
Homecoming and Family Weekend Celebrate Homecoming and Family Weekend on Oct. 18 with a Brooks BBQ Chicken lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the West Parking Lot. Enjoy the barbecue lunch complete with sides, dessert, and a soft drink. Cost is $25 per person. Register online or stop by, walk-ins are welcome.
Coffee and Donuts with the Office of Sponsored Research
From 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, in the World Languages and Literatures Lounge (429 Palamountain Hall), faculty are invited to meet the Office of Sponsored Research staff over coffee and donuts. The session will introduce services available to faculty seeking external grant funding for individual or collaborative research.
