Skidmore alumnus Scott Jacoby ’93

Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Scott Jacoby ’93 never expected to make a career in music. Now he’s helping the next generation of Skidmore musicians find their own rhythm in the industry.

The Holiday Holdover Challenge
The Live More, Skidmore worksite wellness program is offering a four-week program intended to guide you through what can oftentimes be a hectic season keeping wellness on your radar, even when it can’t be the main attraction. Register by Nov. 23.

Skidmore Cares

Skidmore Cares — the campus-wide effort to support individuals and families in need in the Saratoga community — is now in its 20th year. Visit the Skidmore Cares website to learn about ways to support local community organizations. Collected items can be dropped off at the Scribner House Carriage House from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 19, and tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 20. All are invited to stop by for desserts and refreshments. A collection box will be available for after-hours donations. Those interested in volunteering are invited to sign up for a one-hour shift.

‌Thank a Thoroughbred Day 

Celebrate Thank a Thoroughbred Day today, Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Case Center. Stop by for cider, donuts, and a chance to thank someone who’s made your Skidmore experience special. The Senior Gift Committee will collect messages for the gratitude wall and write notes to alumni who support students through the Skidmore Fund. 

Thanksgiving pie and bread orders ‌

‌Dining Services will be selling homemade bread and pies for Thanksgiving. All orders must be received by this Friday, Nov. 21. Pickup will be on Tuesday, Nov. 25, and Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Sustaining an Inclusive Skidmore with CIGU  

Join the Committee on Intercultural & Global Understanding (CIGU) at 9 a.m. or 2 p.m. on Nov. 21 for a forum on sustaining inclusion in today’s legal landscape. We’ll explore our People, Practices, and Programs framework and collaborate on action steps toward sustaining an inclusive community. The forum will be offered in two, one-hour sessions; use this form to RSVP 

‌Changes to CDTA bus service to campus

The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) has announced plans to make service changes to routes in Saratoga Springs, including service to Skidmore, effective Sunday, Nov. 30. Route No. 452, which currently serves campus, will no longer be in service, except for late night Skidmore service on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Riders will have access to CDTA’s FLEX On Demand service, an on-demand, point-to-point service that uses CDTA’s Navigator app. Click here to view an interactive map of Saratoga Springs FLEX Zone and FLEX Points.

‌EMS to open for spring semester 
EMS will open for spring semester scheduling on Dec. 4. Please reach out to the Scheduling Office if you would like training or a refresher on how to order catering, media services, or event setup. Dance Department Winter Concert 
This year's performance includes a premiere by guest artist Moscelyne ParkeHarrison and new works by Erika Pujic, Chia-Ying Kao, and Andre Malo Robles. Performances will take place in the Dance Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 21, and at both 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 22. 

‌‌Skidmore Theater presents “As You Like It” 

As You Like Itby William Shakespeare, directed by Dennis Schebetta, will play Nov. 2123 and Dec. 46. “All the world’s a stage” in this romantic comedy set in the early 1900s in the Adirondacks. 

Career Discovery Experience  

‌The Career Discovery Experience program is seeking hosts for Jan. 5–16. The program connects students with alumni and professionals for career exploration through flexible, half-day experiences. Hosts share their career stories and offer a glimpse into their day-to-day work. Register as a host. 

‌Host an international student for Thanksgiving (employees)

‌Most international students remain on campus during the holiday and would love to share a meal with your family. Rides are appreciated but not required. Fill out the host family survey or email Chloe Jaleel with questions.

‌Two Trees of Peace: Remembering, Restoring, and Rededicating
On Saturday, Nov. 22, honor the Trees of Peace planted by Kanien’keha’:ka (Mohawk) Leader Jake Tekaronianeken Swamp with an 11 a.m. plaque dedication at High Rock Park and a 12:15 p.m. Tree of Peace dedication at the Tang Teaching Museum.

Children's book drive

‌The Reading Minds Scribner Seminar is hosting a book drive to collect new and gently used books for babies, children, and teens through Friday, Dec. 6. All books will be donated to the Saratoga Children's Literacy League, which provides free books to the children of Saratoga County. Books can be dropped off outside the CIS398 classroom. ‌Next week’s Skidmore Weekly Bulletin will be published on Tuesday, Nov. 25, due to the Thanksgiving break. Submit announcements and events and faculty and staff achievements by completing the appropriate online form. The deadline for submissions is noon on Monday. Men’s basketball plays at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Williamson Sports Center against Western Connecticut State University. Men’s hockey hosts its first SUNYAC games at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, against SUNY Cortland and at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, against SUNY Morrisville. Women’s basketball opens at home at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, against nationally ranked Bowdoin College, and riding holds its final home show of the semester Saturday morning.
