Grant from Howard Hughes Medical Institute to support diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility

Skidmore has been awarded a $505,000 grant through HHMI's Inclusive Excellence 3 (IE3) initiative to support the College’s continued efforts toward creating an inclusive environment for all students.

Jacqui Conrad to depart Skidmore College

Jacqui's last day will be March 1, and a search for a new vice president for communications and marketing will begin immediately. 

Dining Services

Murray-Aikins Dining Hall, Atrium Café, The Spa, and Burgess Café will maintain modified hours through Friday, Jan. 20.

Updated monthly staff meeting dates

The dates for monthly staff meetings have been slightly revised. Updated information is available on the HR website. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 3.

 

Save the date: Breakfast with HR - Supervisor Roundtable

The first session of a Breakfast with HR - Supervisor Roundtable will take place Thursday, Jan. 26. More details are forthcoming.

 

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) presents ‘Reclaim Your Brain’

Presented by an EAP counselor, the “Reclaim Your Brain” session from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 2 on the second floor of Murray-Aikins Dining Hall is designed for individuals to focus on their brain health. Learn more and register online.

ODC/Dance open lecture demonstration

An open lecture demonstration with San Francisco-based company ODC/Dance will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, in the Skidmore Dance Theater. COVID-19 reminders

With the confluence of COVID-19, the flu, and RSV (respiratory syncytial virus), Skidmore encourages all members of our community to help keep ourselves and others healthy and safe. All students and employees may pick up free rapid tests and masks at Case Information Desk or at Campus Safety. Please test and mask If symptoms develop. Consider wearing a mask at crowded events, while traveling, or in other places where transmission may be more likely. If you have not received your COVID booster or your flu shot, please consider doing so as soon as you are eligible. COVID-19 updates continue to be posted to Skidmore’s Campus Planning website and Skidmore’s COVID-19 Dashboard.

Kids Night Out

Winter Celebration 2023

Join Skidmore friends and colleagues from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, for an evening of dining and dancing at Saratoga Springs City Center. There is no charge for Skidmore employees and retirees. The guest fee is $20. RSVP online by Friday, Jan. 27.

 

Expanded virtual health and wellness options for students

Skidmore is partnering with TimelyCare, a robust digital health and well-being platform that offers students free and equitable access to teletherapy services. TimelyCare also offers a service for faculty and staff designed to equip them with information to help students who may be struggling.

 

Winter intramurals

Registration for winter intramurals is now open! Varsity indoor soccer (M/W) and JV indoor soccer (T/TH) will start the week of Jan. 30. All teams are co-ed and you must have a Skidmore email address to register. Register here. For more information, contact Elizabeth Ghilardi.

 

New electric vehicle stations coming soon

Skidmore is installing nine new electric vehicle stations, bringing the campus total to 14. Energy pricing of $0.20/kWh will start when the new stations are online. Email Tarah Rowse to join the user list. For more information, visit the Sustainability transportation page.

 

SEFCU hours

The SEFCU campus branch is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The branch is closed daily from 1:15 to 2 p.m. for lunch. The ATM is available for withdrawals during lunchtime.

Athletics News

Busy home schedule for Skidmore athletics teams this weekend

A battle of the top two Liberty League women’s basketball teams highlights a quality home weekend Skidmore athletics schedule. The women’s basketball team hosts Ithaca College at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The teams are tied for first at 7-0 in league play. The men’s team (7-8, 5-3 Liberty) will take on league-leading Ithaca (10-4, 6-1) at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the teams host Rensselaer. The women tip at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 4 p.m. The Skidmore hockey team hosts the nation’s fifth-ranked team at 7 p.m. Friday when Norwich visits the Saratoga Springs City Rink. The Thoroughbreds are home again at 4 p.m. Saturday against New England College. Learn more on the Skidmore Athletics website.
