Lucy Scribner Library invites first-year students to imagine that an attempted art robbery has left beloved library mascot Scribbler Squirrel trapped. As students rush to free Scribbler in a fun, escape room-themed activity, they discover the library is much more than just a building with thousands of books: It’s a hub of campus life and a home away from home.

Summer Bulletin publication schedule   

The next issue of the Bulletin will be published on Aug. 23, when weekly publication also resumes. Submit announcements by completing the online form. The deadline for all submissions is noon on Monday. Please email swb@skidmore.edu if you have questions. 

 

Ice cream social  

Join the Office of Advancement to celebrate the end of summer at an ice cream social from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31. Enjoy a delicious treat and mingle with friends and colleagues. All are welcome. 

 

Update on civic engagement 

In an effort to enhance access to civic engagement, the Office of Dean of Students and the Career Development Center have reimagined an existing position that combines advising for community service with advising on careers with social impact. Michelle Hubbs has been named associate director of civic engagement, and her office can now be found in the Career Development Center in Starbuck 204.

 

New hours for Broadview FCU

Summer hours for the Broadview FCU (formerly SEFCU) branch on campus are 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Regular, full-time hours will resume on Monday, Aug. 28. Hours will be Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a lunch break from 1:15 to 2 p.m.

 

Update on Gore Mountain employee discount passes 

Gore Mountain has discontinued its corporate pass discount program, and discounted passes for Skidmore employees and their families are no longer available. Please visit the Gore website for more information about season passes. Today, Wednesday, Aug. 9, is the deadline for the lowest season pass prices for the 2023-24 season. Please contact Carol Schnitzer for more information.

 

Facilities Services updates 

Work on a new geothermal field in the area between the Community Garden and Wiecking Hall will continue through the summer. Blasting for the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center will continue intermittently for several weeks. For more information, please contact Facilities Services.

 

Dining Services  

Through Friday, Sept. 1, Dining Services will continue to offer a pop-up grill from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday on Case Walkway. The grill features a menu of hot dogs, burgers (both beef and plant-based), and grilled chicken. Hours for The Spa, Burgess, The Atrium, and Murray-Aikins Dining Hall are available on the Dining Services website. Academic year hours for Murray-Aikins Dining Hall begin on Saturday, Sept. 2. Food service at The Spa returns on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
