‌Summer student employment ‌

‌The process for submitting requisitions for summer employment is now open. All summer hire requests are subject to approval by each division’s vice president. All requests for summer workers must be approved before any work begins. Positions will be posted on or around March 10. All positions that need to be posted/advertised should be submitted by that date. Human Resources manages all hiring needs during the summer months, including for Skidmore students; more information can be found online.

President’s Awards nominations

‌The Office of the President invites nominations for deserving individuals or teams for a 2025 President's Leadership and Service Award. Students, faculty members, exempt staff, non-exempt staff, or union personnel may be nominated (self-nominations will not be considered). To nominate a person or team complete this online form by 4 p.m. Monday, March 24.

‌Summer course registration is open

‌Skidmore students may register for in-person and online courses offered during three summer sessions. Course list, dates, and cost are available on the Summer Sessions website. ‌Free massages at McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center

‌The Department of Health Promotion is offering free massages in McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, March 7. Space is limited: Sign up online. More opportunities for massages will be offered on future dates.

‌St. Patrick's Day to-go dinners ‌

‌Dining Services will be selling $10 corned beef and cabbage dinners to go at the Spa. Pre-order by Wednesday, March 12, for pickup between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, March 17. Each meal includes slow-cooked corned beef, steamed cabbage, red potatoes, roasted rainbow carrots, and freshly baked Irish soda bread. Credit or Skidmore cards accepted.

‌Children’s swim lessons

‌The Skidmore swimming and diving team is offering Thursday swimming lessons beginning March 27 to children 4 years and older. Sign-ups will take place in person in the Williamson Sports Center lobby from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 6. ‌The Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) is compiling a directory of official Skidmore social media accounts. Those who manage an account for a department, program, or athletic team, should submit the Social Media Directory Request Form to ensure that OCM has up-to-date contact information. ‌New York Times opinion columnist Ross Douthat will discuss "The Future of Global Politics," with responses from faculty at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, in Gannett Auditorium. The event is free and open to all. A book signing with Douthat, hosted by Northshire Bookstore, will follow in the Gannett Lobby. This event is made possible through the generous support of Emily Pavlovich Chiles Startz '74.

‌Humanistic Inquiry Symposium ‌

‌All are invited to this year’s Humanistic Inquiry Symposium, March 21-22 at the Tang Teaching Museum. The Symposium will explore the theme of Time — its purposes, its influence, and the ways it shapes our existence — and feature a keynote address by Thomas DeFrantz, professor at Northwestern University and director of SLIPPAGE: Performance|Culture|Technology, as well as sessions with President Marc C. Conner and Skidmore faculty from a variety of disciplines.

Athletics News

The men’s hockey team is off to Geneva this weekend to play in the New England Hockey Conference Semifinal against Norwich at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The championship game is slated for 3 p.m. on Sunday. Women’s lacrosse is home for non-league Westfield State at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and men’s lacrosse will host SUNY Cortland at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Spring teams disperse next week for competitions in Florida (baseball, softball, women’s lacrosse, men’s tennis), Texas (women’s tennis), and Maryland (men’s lacrosse).
