President Conner named CICU trustee

President Marc C. Conner has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU), joining a distinguished group of higher education leaders from across New York state.

Recording of information session on impact of executive orders available

‌A recording of “Navigating Uncertainty Together: Understanding the New Administration's Executive Orders and Their Impact on Our College Community” (passcode 9E@I?sQ9) is available. On March 20, General Counsel and Vice President for Human Resources Sarah Delaney Vero and other College leaders offered an overview of key executive orders affecting higher education and Skidmore’s protocol for federal law enforcement inquiries (agents should be referred to Campus Safety). They also shared resources on where to go for help and answered questions from community members.

‌The College is selecting exempt and non-exempt staff to attend the 2025 National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education (NCORE) in New York City, May 26 through 31. NCORE provides a leading forum for higher education professionals to explore and address the complexities of human differences and their profound impacts on access, opportunity, and success. Help reduce bulk emails by posting your announcement in Skidmore Weekly Bulletin, which is distributed to all students and employees. Submit announcements and events; lectures, panels, and other academic events; and faculty-staff achievements by completing the appropriate online form. The deadline for all submissions is noon on Monday.

‌Artwork at the Skidmore Shop

‌Skidmore Shop is currently featuring the work of student artist Elle McCarty '25. Those interested in displaying their work should get in touch with Evelyn Lee. The shop has also introduced the artists’ trading post: Leave a piece of art — take a piece of art. Artwork can be of any medium (including 3D works) but should be no larger than 4x6 inches.

Athletics News

Nine teams are home this weekend in a huge weekend for Thoroughbred teams. Women’s lacrosse plays its first of two games at Wachenheim Field at 6 p.m. on Wednesday against Vassar and will host nationally ranked William Smith at noon on Saturday. Softball has non-league doubleheaders at home against Delhi (3 p.m. Friday) and John Jay (11 a.m. Sunday). Men’s and women’s rowing kick off their spring seasons at Fish Creek on Saturday morning with a home event against multiple teams.

‌

‌Also on Saturday, riding will host the Region 3 Finals at the Van Lennep Riding Center. Women’s tennis returns to league play with home matches against RPI (9 a.m. Saturday), Bard (5 p.m. Saturday), and St. Lawrence (noon, Sunday). Baseball is also home on Saturday with a divisional doubleheader against Bard beginning at noon. At 1 p.m. on Saturday, men’s tennis will take on RPI before completing its weekend against St. Lawrence at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

‌Men’s lacrosse, fresh off a ranked win against St. Lawrence, is back home at 3 p.m. on Saturday hosting Clarkson and will be back at 4 p.m. on Monday against New Paltz.
