Homecoming and Family Weekend

All members of the Skidmore community are invited to join families, friends, and alumni for Homecoming and Family Weekend next weekend, Friday, Oct. 17 – Sunday, Oct. 19.

‌Parking Lot Closures

  • ‌‌West Parking lot (West lot crosswalk to the Case Center roadway): Closed 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, through Monday, Oct. 20. ‌All cars must be removed by 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14. ‌‌
  • ‌Side lot between Wachenheim Field and intramural gym: Closed 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, through Monday, Oct. 20. ‌All cars must be removed by 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15. ‌
  • ‌Tang Teaching Museum lot: The lot will close 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, and reopen 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18.‌ Overnight parking prohibited.

‌‌‌Fireworks 

A 10-minute fireworks display will begin at approximately 9:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, near Haupt Pond and Lower South Park. The area, as well as the loop road between the sports center entrance and the Arthur Zankel Music Center, will be closed before, during, and will reopen after the display.

Triannual emergency system testing

Campus Safety will test the Siren/SUNs systems on Friday, Oct. 10. Anyone inside a campus building will likely not hear the siren or voice messages; however, you should receive a text message. If you do not receive the text message, contact Lori Parks at Campus Safety at x5567 for assistance.

Stories from the Rotinonshonni Longhouse, Past & Present

‌Join the 2025–26 Elder in Residence Kay Ionataie:was Olan for an evening of storytelling at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, in Filene Auditorium. Presented on Indigenous Peoples Day, the program highlights Rotinonshonni (Iroquois) stories past and present. Kay, a member of the Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne, has shared stories for more than 35 years.

SGA Green Grant applications

The SGA Subcommittee on Sustainability will host a Green Grant application workshop from 4:305:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, in the SGA office. All students are encouraged to attend to get help with their application and learn more about the program.

Dining Services bread orders

‌Dining Services is again accepting orders for its homemade breads. Orders are due by Friday, Oct. 10, for pickup from 3:30–5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, in the Atrium Café.

Skidmania '75 tickets on sale now Skidmore’s biggest student-led concert returns to Zankel for two nights only – Friday, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 22. Tickets are $5 for students and $15 for faculty and staff. Purchase tickets before they sell out. All proceeds benefit Skidmore Cares.

Skidmore Weekly Bulletin submission procedure and schedule 

Help reduce bulk emails by posting your announcement in Skidmore Weekly Bulletin, which is distributed to all employees as well as to all students. Submit announcements and events, and faculty and staff achievements by completing the appropriate online form. The deadline for all submissions is noon on Monday. Email swb@skidmore.edu if you have questions or experience technical issues due to ongoing website updates. 

Athletics

Field hockey hosts Vassar at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Wagner Park, fresh off its dramatic win over William Smith. Women’s soccer follows at 3 p.m., welcoming William Smith. Men’s tennis will host the Skidmore Open for the second straight week at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center, running Saturday, Oct. 11, and Sunday, Oct. 12. Men’s golf will also host a home tournament at the Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course. The 54-hole event includes two rounds, Saturday, Oct. 11, and the final round, Sunday, Oct. 12.
