2026 William E. Weiss Lecture
Perry Mehrling, an American economist and professor at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, will present “A Money View of the Present Moment” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, in Gannett Auditorium as part of the William E. Weiss Lecture in Economics.
Geo Trees Sculpture Unveiling volunteer sign up
The Geo Trees Sculpture Unveiling will be held Friday, April 24, from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wiecking Green. All Skidmore community members are welcome to participate in the event to receive a free T-shirt and stand in the location of an actual geothermal bore. For more information, contact Jenna Kessler.
A Conversation with Skidmore GIS Alumni
Students are invited to learn about careers in GIS during a conversation with alumni at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, in the GIS Center (Scribner Library 227). Food will be provided.
21st Annual Skidmore String Festival with Pacifica Quartet
The Grammy Award–winning Pacifica Quartet will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Arthur Zankel Music Center. The program will feature works by Gruenberg, Dvořák, and Beethoven. The festival will conclude at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19, with a performance by Skidmore students alongside members of the quartet. For tickets and details, visit the Zankel Music Center website.
Give+Go volunteer sign ups
Skidmore’s annual Give+Go move-out program will run from April 28 through May 17. Volunteers can sign up for weekday sorting shifts and for Give+Go Day on May 17. Contact the Office of Sustainability with questions.
Join the Workforce Team Challenge
The Workforce Team Challenge will take place Thursday, May 21, in Albany. Register online by Monday, May 11. To participate, select Skidmore as your team and complete all required information. Spill the Disabili-Tea with Alex Locust
Alex Locust, a Black-white biracial, queer “Glamputee,” will visit campus April 23 for a mini-residency, including a public talk at 4:30 p.m. in the Wyckoff Center. “Spill the Disabili-Tea: An Interactive Dive into Disability Justice,” will explore key questions about disability, access, and unlearning ableism, inviting reflection and deeper understanding in support of more inclusive communities.
Skidmore Young Scholars Science Institute
The Skidmore Young Scholars Science Institute is a free summer program for local high school students featuring a variety of STEM-related subjects. The program will run July 20-24 and includes lunch. The application deadline is May 30. Learn more.
Stoles and cords celebration
The Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion will host the Stoles and Cords Celebration to honor Skidmore graduates at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the Surrey Williamson Inn. All students are welcome to attend. Graduates must register by April 15.
Sustainable items at the Skidmore Shop
Visit the Skidmore Shop during Earth Month in April to shop sustainably made items. Our vendor, Uscape, supplies products made with sustainable materials, including GRS recycled cotton, GRS recycled polyester, and GOTS organic cotton. Refried Apparel also upcycles overstock items into duffel bags, jean jackets, hoodies and more.
Call for fall course material adoptions
Submit fall 2026 course material requests via the requisition form by Thursday, April 16, to ensure first-day access. Indicate “No Text Required,” access codes (new only), and format preferences. Students with grant/book cards must purchase at the Skidmore Shop. For art materials, email Evelyn Lee by May 30. Contact Becky Ephraim with questions.
Skidmore Weekly Bulletin submission procedure and schedule
Help reduce bulk emails by posting your announcement in Skidmore Weekly Bulletin, which is distributed to all employees as well as to all students. Submit announcements and events, and faculty and staff achievements by completing the appropriate online form. The deadline for all submissions is noon on Monday.
