‌Help inform Skidmore’s next mission statement ‌

‌The College is undertaking a review of its mission statement. You are invited to review the current statement and share feedback through a brief survey, which will close on May 13. For more information, please refer to the email from the Office of the President sent Wednesday, April 22.

‌DOF/VPAA search committee announced 

The search committee for the dean of the faculty and vice president for academic affairs will begin meeting soon and will share updates on the search process, including the selection of an executive search consulting firm, a projected timeline, and opportunities for community input. President Conner will serve as chair, and Professor and Chair of Education Studies Hope Casto will serve as vice chair. The committee also includes SGA Vice President-Elect for Academic Affairs Katherine Sterling ’27; Senior Director of External Relations and Strategic Communications Sara Miga; Associate Professor of Political Science Emmanuel Balogun; Dean of Students and VP for Student Affairs Adrian Bautista; and Assistant Teaching Professor of English Eileen Sperry.

‌Task Force on Accessibility membership announced 

The task force will be tri-chaired by Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Affairs Adrian Bautista, Associate Dean of the Faculty Oscar Pérez Hernández, and Elise Hinrichs ’28, chair of the Student Government Association Subcommittee on ADA and CIGU student member. Members also include IdeaLab Manager Darren Prodger; Artist-in-Residence and Associate Chair of the Theater Department Teisha Duncan; and Zoe Levine ’28. The task force will offer opportunities, including surveys, open forums, and focus groups, for community members to contribute to this important work.

‌Join the Workforce Team Challenge

The Work Force Team Challenge will take place on Thursday, May 21, in Albany. Register online by Monday, May 11. To participate, select Skidmore as your team and fill out all the required information. Do not pay for your cart; Skidmore’s team captain, Darren Drabek, will manage the payments. Contact Darren Drabek for more information, including details about carpooling and celebrations after the race.

‌‌‌‌Give+Go

‌Skidmore’s annual Give+Go move-out program will run from April 28 through May 17. Donate gently used items to the six locations across campus. Volunteers can sign up for weekday sorting shifts and for Give+Go Day on May 17. Contact the Office of Sustainability with questions.

2026 Senior Thesis Exhibition at the Tang

‌Skidmore’s annual Senior Thesis Exhibition will be on view May 7–16 at the Tang Museum. The Art Department show features work by 29 senior studio art majors, with an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 8. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Learn more.

‌Facilities update 

‌Facilities Services has begun starting up the campus chilled water system, which provides air conditioning for select buildings, in preparation for warmer spring temperatures. The system is expected to be operational by the first week of May. Buildings affected by this startup include Bolton Hall, Palamountain Hall, Billie Tisch Center for Integrated Sciences, Barrett Center, Howe-Rounds Hall, Wait Hall, Jonsson Tower, Case Center, Ladd Hall, Lucy Scribner Library, and Janet Kinghorn Bernhard Theater.

‌Planned power outage 

Facilities Services will conduct a campuswide planned power outage for high-voltage maintenance from 6 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 24. Contact facilities@skidmore.edu with questions.‌

Pool closure for summer upgrades

The pool will be closed for the summer to allow for installation of a new filtration system. Please contact Matt Folts for more information.
