THE POSTERIOR SURFACE   :   When the cerebellum is removed from the spinal cord area of the sheep brain, more structures are revealed.

Occipital Lobe : the visual processing center of the brain; houses the primary visual cortex.

Pineal Body : a small endocrine gland which produces melatonin, a hormone affecting wakefulness and sleeping patterns.

Superior Colliculi : the superior part of the tectum responsible for directing visual orienting reflexes.

Inferior Colliculi : the inferior part of the tectum which functions in auditory processing.

Fourth Ventricle : one of the four spaces ("ventricles") in the brain which hold Cerebro-Spinal Fluid (CSF)
