Election season update: As the presidential race dominated news coverage, journalists
reached out to Skidmore for expertise and insights from faculty members, including
Christopher Mann, Ron Seyb, Sheldon Solomon and Bob Turner.
As the 2016 presidential campaign dominated news coverage over the last year, many
journalists sought expert commentary from Skidmore scholars. Political science and
other professors were in high demand for interviews with media outlets across the
country, to discuss regional political races, provide background on the election process,
break down voter behavior, and analyze the outcome of the election. The Tang Museum
also contributed, it’s A More Perfect Union exhibition serving as a stage for political debates and election night coverage.

Palamountain Professor of Political Science Ron Seyb was quoted in a WNYT-TV (NBC) election outcome story titled “Trump shocks Clinton as polls and results differ in presidential election.”
WAMC-FM (Northeast Public Radio) aired a live Election Day interview about the voting-results watch party at the Tang Museum with the Tang’s Dayton Director Ian Berry, business professor Minita Sanghvi, and political scientist Ron Seyb.
Political scientist Christopher Mann’s expertise was featured in The Christian Science Monitor in an October 24 article titled “Speaking Politics phrase of the week: 'roll-off'”
Political scientist Bob Turner provided expert commentary on FOX News’s national Special Report program on October 14, for a story about New York’s heated 19th Congressional District race.
And Sheldon Solomon, professor of psychology, was quoted in a May 27 Washington Post article titled "This might be the darkest theory yet about why Donald Trump keeps winning." The article was also reported in a June 1 story in the Times of India. Watch Solomon's lecture from Reunion 2016 below:
