Dwane Sterling

As head of Information Technology at Skidmore, Sterling will guide and oversee the development and implementation of a strategic technology plan that aligns with the overall goals of the College.

 

Following an external review of the programs and initiatives of the Office of Special Programs and a subsequent evaluation of its administrative structure, the President’s Cabinet has decided not to replace the position of Dean of Special Programs. However, the current organization of the Office, consisting principally of two separate teams — Operations & Conferences; and Academic Programs, Residencies, Institutes, & Community Programs — will be retained.

 

Your guide to Commencement 2019

More than 600 members of the Class of 2019 are receiving bachelor's degrees at Skidmore's 108th Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 18. The ceremony, which is open to the public, begins at 10:40 a.m. at Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

At Commencement, Skidmore graduates don colorful and symbolic regalia to celebrate their personal journeys and creative accomplishments.

 

Honors convocation celebrates the whole student

Skidmore students were recognized at the May 1 ceremony, receiving awards for academics, research, creativity, service and collaborative work with faculty.

 

Dining Services

Spa specials

Beginning Monday, May 20, the pop-up outdoor grill menu will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. outside The Spa in Porter Plaza all summer long, weather permitting. The $5.99 menu includes a choice of burger, hot dog, chicken breast or vegetarian burger with two sides and a drink. Sides include chips, potato or pasta salad and watermelon.

 

Dining Services will host a Bread Sale from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, during the Commencement Reception in Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. Featured breads will include apple-cinnamon coffee cake, vegan banana, banana with chocolate chips, zucchini, cranberry orange, seven-grain, ciabatta, sourdough and roasted garlic Italian. All breads are $4.

Presidential Search Committee Community Forum

The Presidential Search Committee and the Skidmore Board of Trustees invite all members of the Skidmore community to participate in a Presidential Search Committee Community Forum from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in Gannett Auditorium in Palamountain Hall. Thoughts about the priorities, traits, experiences and practices the next Skidmore president should possess can also be shared in a .

 

Skidmore Shop

Students and families will receive 15% off any Skidmore-branded apparel on Friday, May 17. Look for the Shop’s pop-up tent at SPAC during Commencement on Saturday, May 18, for last-minute gifts for grads and more. After Commencement, head to the Shop in Case Center from 1 to 5 p.m. and get a free Skidmore tote bag with any purchase of $25 or more.

 

De-Stress Fest

All Skidmore staff are invited to attend De-Stress Fest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in the Dance Center. It will feature ergonomics for the workplace presentations, chair massages, meditation and yoga, door prizes, therapy dogs and more.

 

Employee Retirement and Recognition Celebration

Faculty and staff are invited to attend the annual Employee Retirement and Recognition lunch from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, on Case Green.

 

President to host community meetings

President Glotzbach will provide College updates and answer questions during two community meetings, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, on the second floor of Murray-Aikins Dining Hall.

 

Orientation workshop on intergroup dialogue
