Yes! Days for accepted students
The College will be hosting Yes! Days for admitted students on Friday, April 12, and Monday, April 15. There will be an increase in traffic across campus on these dates, including at the North Broadway entrance and Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. Parking on campus, primarily near Arthur Zankel Music Center, will be affected. Everyone is invited to address questions, provide directions, or simply say hello to our guests as they chart the next four years of their academic journeys.
Middle States affirmation of accreditation
Skidmore is beginning the affirmation of accreditation through Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). An informational meeting about the process will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, in Murray-Aikins Dining Hall, and feature MSCHE Vice President Liaison Judith Sciple. ‘How Vowels Endure Winter’ world premiere
The world premiere of David Greenberger and Tyson Rogers’s “How Vowels Endure Winter” will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 12, in the Tang Teaching Museum. The event is the inaugural performance in the Adirondack Trust New Works Series and features a series of monologues with piano responding to work by the artist Joachim Schmid.
Eclipse glasses donations
Wondering what to do with your solar eclipse glasses? Collection boxes are located in Case lobby by the Information Desk and in the lobby of the JKB Theater. Set up your own collection box and then drop off or send glasses in campus mail to Eunice Ferreira by April 30. Glasses should be free of punctures, scratches, and tears. Donations that will be shipped to school children in South America for an upcoming eclipse.
Out of the Darkness Walk
Join the Out of the Darkness Walk for an afternoon of remembrance, hope, and healing at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, on Case Green. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members are welcome to walk in support of those impacted by suicide or mental health struggles. Red Cross blood drive

The Candace Carlucci Backus '66 First-Year Experience Prize
The prize is awarded to first-year students in recognition of exceptional scholarly or artistic achievement in their Scribner Seminar. This year's prizes are awarded to Amanda Ruffino in American Tastes with Professor Beck Krefting for their paper “The Evolving Role of Rye: Navigating the Influence and Significance of the Rye Grain in History” and Audrey Tignor in Jane Austen Inc. with Professor Catherine Golden for their paper “Leaving Barbie Land: Growth and Manipulation in Emma.” Additional Backus nominees include Kyle Goodwin, Sara Tilem, Gray Mendoza-Arredondo, Carter Nierle, Vicky Grechukhina, and Evelyn Labson.
Hiring for Reunion weekend
Alumni Engagement is hiring current students and college-aged children of Skidmore employees to serve as Reunion ambassadors, assisting alumni engagement staff throughout Reunion weekend (Thursday, May 30, to Monday, June 2). Campus housing for that weekend is available to current students. 2024 Summer Pre-College
Did you know Skidmore's Pre-College program is one of the top 10 in the country? Returning to in-person learning this year, high school juniors and seniors are invited to live on campus, take Skidmore classes, and earn college credit. Classes run July 1 to Aug. 3.
