2026 President's Awards for Leadership and Service
The President's Awards for Leadership and Service are presented to Skidmore community members who have embraced the educational mission and cooperative spirit of the College. Student awards, which were presented at the Student Leadership Awards event, went to Anna Hyson ’26, Diego Ignacio Ilagan ’26, Djeneba Sanogo ’26, and Justin Shafritz ’26. The staff, faculty, and team awards will be presented at the Retirement and Recognition event on May 19. Awards will be given to Academic Administrative Assistant for Neuroscience, Physics, and the IdeaLab Carolyn Lundy, Wyckoff Center Director Mariel L. Martin, Associate Professor of Political Science Bob Turner, and posthumously to Teaching Professor of Management and Business Cathy Hill. The team award will go to Middle States Steering Committee: Natalie Taylor, Kelly Sheppard, Amy Tweedy, Joshua Woodfork, Julia Routbort Baskin, Beau Breslin, and Joe Stankovich.
Help inform Skidmore’s next mission statement
The College is undertaking a review of its mission statement. You are invited to review the current statement and share feedback through a brief survey. The survey will close on May 13. For more information, refer to the email from the Office of the President sent Wednesday, April 22. An open forum discussion will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, in Wyckoff Center. All are welcome.
Chip in for Skidmore at Charter Day Kickoff
Join the Skidmore Fund and the Office of Advancement from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, in front of Lucy Scribner Library to celebrate Charter Day at Skidmore. Visit four interactive stations to learn about philanthropy and enjoy kettle chips. Complete all four stations for a chance to win one of two Skidmore Shop gift cards. Join the Workforce Team Challenge
The Work Force Team Challenge will take place on Thursday, May 21, in Albany. Register online by Monday, May 11. To participate, select Skidmore as your team and fill out all the required information. Do not pay for your cart; Skidmore’s team captain, Darren Drabek, will manage the payments. Contact Darren Drabek for more information, including details about carpooling and celebrations after the race.
Give+Go
Skidmore’s annual Give+Go move-out program will run from April 28 through May 17. Volunteers can sign up for weekday sorting shifts and for Give+Go Day on May 17. Contact the Office of Sustainability with questions.
Fiscal year-end reminders from Financial Services
Please review these detailed guidelines ahead of the close of the fiscal year on May 31. You are encouraged to submit expense reimbursements, invoices for payment, and related items in advance of the deadlines.
Facilities update
Facilities Services has begun starting up the campus chilled water system, which provides air conditioning for select buildings, in preparation for warmer spring temperatures. The system is expected to be operational by the first week of May. Buildings affected by this startup include Bolton Hall, Palamountain Hall, Billie Tisch Center for Integrated Sciences, Barrett Center, Howe-Rounds Hall, Wait Hall, Jonsson Tower, Case Center, Ladd Hall, Lucy Scribner Library, and Janet Kinghorn Bernhard Theater.
