Invitation to forum for chief HR officer search

Donna Ng, vice president for finance and administration and treasurer, invites members of the Skidmore community to participate in an open forum with the search committee for Skidmore’s next chief human resource officer. Please let the search committee know about the qualities that are important for this position. The forum will be held on Friday, Nov. 16 from 1 to 2 p.m. in Davis Auditorium. provides more information about this important role at Skidmore.

Skidmore honors veterans
Flag of the United States of America

The Skidmore community will honor veterans in a ceremony at the flagpole by the main entrance at 11:45 a.m. on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 12. Following the ceremony, College veterans, reservists and members of the armed forces are cordially invited to a luncheon at 12:15 p.m. at the Surrey Inn. Current employees, retired colleagues, students and alumni are encouraged to attend.

 

Veterans who are unable to attend will receive a complimentary meal ticket from Dining Services. .

Alexander Bernstein

Alexander Bernstein, second child of classical music icon Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990), will make a special visit to Skidmore College, as part of a two-year global celebration of the late composer’s 100th birthday.

 

Rex Smith, editor of the Times Union newspaper, called for journalists to maintain the difficult task of reporting the truth to the public and for readers to become more educated about the news amid increasing challenges to journalism in a digital, "post-truth" era.

Two articles by Kristofer Covey, visiting assistant professor of environmental studies and sciences, have been accepted for publication.

 

Jennifer Mueller, assistant professor of sociology and director of the Intergroup Relations Program, spoke at Russel Sage College.

 

Aaron Pedinotti, visiting assistant professor in the Media and Film Studies Program, was mentioned in a Times Union column.

 

Ron Seyb, associate dean of the faculty and Joseph C. Palamountain Jr. Chair in Government, was interviewed by WNYT Channel 13.

Jim Rose works as an executive chef in Dining Services. Thirteen years ago, he gave up his own restaurant in Johnstown, New York, and brought his passion for food to campus because he "thought the world of the Skidmore community."
