‌The campus all-gender restroom map has been updated and is available online and at various points around campus.

‌The College enables students, faculty, staff, and alumni to have a chosen name, which may be the same as, or different from, their legal name, for use within systems and communications maintained by the College’s Information Technology Office, except where the use of a legal name is required. 

‌Lovefest 

‌Celebrate love and care from 1–4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, in the Wyckoff Center with breathwork workshops, chair massages, crafts, and a tea lounge featuring the Wyckoff Signature Blend. We are guided by bell hooks’ wisdom in her book “All About Love: New Visions”: “The choice to love is a choice to connect — to find ourselves in the other.”

Campus snow removal 
Student overnight parking lots (West, Wait, Falstaff, Sussman Village, and Cane/Northwoods) will close at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, for snow removal. Vehicles must be moved to designated commuter lots after 2 p.m. but before 8 p.m. Saturday and returned after 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. Vehicles left in overnight lots after 8 p.m. will be ticketed and towed. For more information, refer to the Campus Safety email sent on Jan. 27.

‌Science on Tap at Common Roots

‌Brewing Science on Tap returns to Common Roots Brewing on Wednesday, Jan. 28. Daniel Peterson, associate professor and associate chair of psychology, will present “Fake News on Social Media: Exploring Age Effects.” Doors open at 6 p.m., and the presentation begins at 7 p.m. A full schedule of upcoming talks is available online.

‌Community winter sowing workshop 

‌Join us for a winter sowing workshop 5–7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 29, in BTCIS 101A. Participants will plant pollinator plants for the Skidmore Community Garden or may bring a clear container, such as a milk jug or takeout container, to plant for a home garden. Seeds and soil will be provided. Visit Sustainable Saratoga to register and learn more.

Mathematics and Statistics Colloquium 

‌At 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, Visiting Assistant Professor Alec Mertin will give a talk titled "Rowmotion and Homomesy" in Palamountain 231. Light refreshments will be served, starting at 2 p.m.

‌Heat pump workshop 

‌Paul Stathis of TRC Companies will give a presentation on Skidmore’s HVAC systems and the role of heat pumps in campus sustainability at 5 p.m., Monday, Feb. 2, in the Payne Room at the Tang. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A and gift card drawings. Contact sustainability@skidmore.edu for more information.

Ensemble Connect 2026 spring residency

‌Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect returns for its spring residency Feb. 10-14, with a free public concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, in Zankel Music Center. Tickets are required for the concert. Visit the Arthur Zankel Music Center website to learn more.

‌Humanistic Inquiry Symposium 

‌The 2026 Humanistic Inquiry Symposium will take place March 20-21 at the Tang and is open to all. This year’s theme, “Space/Place,” invites us to consider how environments shape stories, identities, and experiences, and continues exploration of the spacetime continuum began with last year’s focus on time.

February break kids camp

‌Women’s lacrosse will host a February break kids camp Feb. 16–20 for children in grades K–5. The camp runs 9 a.m.–noon at the Williamson Sports Center and includes arts and crafts, games, and other activities. Cost is $30 per day or $125 for the week. ‌Red Cross blood drive 

‌There will be a Red Cross blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, in the IM/Dance gym. Visit redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment and use sponsor keyword “SKIDMORE.”

‌Modernity and Jewish Life at the End of the Ottoman Empire: A Conversation 

‌At 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, in the Wyckoff Center, Murat Yildiz, associate professor of history, will join guest scholar Dina Danon, associate professor of Judaic studies and history at Binghamton University, for a conversation on modernity, class, and Jewish life in urban centers of the late Ottoman Empire. This event is presented by the Jacob Perlow Series and Office of Special Programs.

‌Valentine's Day chocolate-covered strawberry sale 

‌Chocolate-covered strawberries will be available through a pre-order sale, with orders due by Friday, Feb. 6. Half-dozen boxes cost $10. Orders may be picked up from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at the Spa. A limited number of boxes will also be available for purchase the day of.

‌Geothermal awareness survey 

‌Please take one to two minutes to complete this anonymous survey, which aims to better understand the Skidmore community’s awareness of geothermal systems on campus. Responses will be used to inform sustainability projects and communications. Participants may enter a raffle for one of several $15 Uncommon Grounds gift cards.

2026 Juried Student Exhibition 

‌The 2026 Juried Skidmore Student Exhibition opens Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Schick Gallery, with a reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The exhibition features more than 200 entries across all media, including painting, drawing, animation, fibers, ceramics, jewelry, and metals. The 2026 juror is artist and writer Mary Simpson. The exhibition is on view through March 3.

‌Camp Northwoods registration

‌Online registration for Camp Northwoods, Skidmore’s summer day camp for children, opens for employees at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5. Skidmore community members receive priority and will be sent an email with specific instructions that morning. 

‌Employee fitness registration

‌Registration is now open for employee fitness classes, including yoga, pilates, circuit training, and spin. Employees may sign up for a 10-week class at a low cost and try the new group fitness studio in the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center using the registration link. ‌Skidmore Shop semester hours 

‌Our semester hours of operation have resumed. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 3:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Online shopping is always available at skidmoreshop.com, with free in-store pickup.

‌Course material returns 

‌The Skidmore Shop receives course material deliveries daily. Orders may be placed online, and customers will be notified by email when materials arrive. The deadline to return course materials is the end of the add/drop period on Feb. 3.

Skidmore Weekly Bulletin submission procedure and schedule

‌Help reduce bulk emails by posting your announcement in Skidmore Weekly Bulletin, which is distributed to all employees as well as to all students. Submit announcements and events, and faculty and staff achievements by completing the appropriate online form. The deadline for all submissions is noon on Monday. Email swb@skidmore.edu if you have questions or experience technical issues due to ongoing website updates.
