Joanne
Vella, Associate Professor of Art, teaches all levels of drawing and
painting. She has been represented by the McIntosh Gallery, Atlanta,
GA from 1982- 2000 and has exhibited nationally, receiving many awards.
Her works are held in numerous public and private collections throughout
the U.S., including the Brunnier Art Museum, Iowa State University; the
Des Moines Art Center; Del Mar College Gallery; and the Huntsville Museum
of Art. She received her BFA in Art Education, a BFA in Painting, and
her MFA from the University of Illinois. She has given numerous drawing
demonstrations and lectured widely on her own work and that of others,
including a gallery talk at the Whitney Museum on Joan Mitchell. She
has also juried/curated a variety of exhibitions and her work has been
reviewed in the Atlanta Journal, the New Art Examiner, the Des Moines
Register and Iowa Architect, among other publications.
