Kate
Leavitt, Associate Professor of Art and Department Chair, received her
BFA from the University of Southern Maine and her MA in Printmaking and
MFA in Painting from the State University of New York at Albany. She later
apprenticed at the Tamarind Institute at the University of New Mexico,
where she received the title of Tamarind Master Printer. She teaches courses
in Printmaking, Drawing and Painting and manages the Department’s
Printmaking Studio, and she frequently lectures and gives demonstrations
on various printmaking and book art techniques, including the innovative
arts of laser photo-litho and photopolymer intaglio. She exhibits her
work extensively both regionally and internationally, most recently at
the Southern Graphics Conference in Boston, the Qingdao International
Print Biennale, the Society of American Graphic Artists in NYC, and the
exhibition 40 Artists/40 Miles at the Art Center for the Capital Region
in Troy.
