Leslie Ferst, Visiting Assistant Professor of Studio Art, received her
BA in Art History from Skidmore College and her MFA from Boston University.
She teaches courses in Skidmore’s ceramics studio, and has also
taught at Boston University, the University of Vermont and Johnson State
College (Johnson, VT). Her work in clay has been featured in exhibitions
regionally and nationally, most recently at the Southern Vermont Arts
Center, the 60th Exhibition of Central New York Artists at Munson Williams
Proctor Arts Institute, the Clay Art Center (Port Chester, NY), and the
Signature Shop & Gallery (Atlanta, GA). Her work has been reviewed
in The Contemporary Potter and The Best of Pottery, among other publications.
She has held a number of artist’s residencies and won a several
grants and awards for her work, including a NYS Craft Artist’s
Grant from the Empire State Crafts Alliance. Her ceramics are included
in permanent collections including Siena College (Loudonville, NY), Georgia
Council for the Arts and Humanities and the Frederick Weisman Museum
of Art.
