2013 Juried Skidmore Student Exhibition
February 7 – March 21
Opening reception: Thursday, February 7, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Juror's talk: Wednesday, February 27, 7 p.m.
A highlight of the Schick calendar and the community at large, the Juried Student
Exhibition invariably celebrates the creativity, imagination, and skill of Skidmore
art students.
Each year, a guest juror selects the exhibition from work completed by Skidmore students
in the areas of ceramics, drawing and painting, electronic media, fiber arts, graphic
design, jewelry and metals, installation, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.
From an average of 250 entries, the juror typically chooses one-quarter to one-third
of that number for exhibit; she also selects outstanding work for special awards.
Prizes and gift certificates totaling over $1000 are funded annually through donations
made by friends of the gallery, campus organizations, and Saratoga Springs businesses,
and are announced at the opening reception.
The guest juror for this year’s show is Kathryn Price, Curator of Special Projects
at Williams College Museum of Art in Williamstown, MA. Price oversees the curatorial
department, including managing exhibitions, publications, and collections. Her areas
of interest include 19th-century American and European art and modern and contemporary
art.

Juror's talk:
On Wednesday, February 27th at 7 p.m. in Davis Auditorium, Price will speak on Landscapes of the Mind: Contemporary Artists Contemplate the Brain, an exhibit she curated at Williams College Museum of Art in 2010. She will also
touch on the experience of jurying the student show, and on her own career as a curator.
