Skidmore Cares

The Skidmore College community has joined together again to collect more than $13,000, 4,000 food items and 1,000 school supplies and personal care items to support nonprofit organizations through the Skidmore Cares community service program.

 

Students experience Africa through dance

A vibrant performance by music professor Ruth Opara’s African Drumming and Dance course transported Skidmore students to southeastern Nigeria, where Opara grew up.

 

Skidmore implementing a new smoke-free policy

Skidmore is a smoke-free and tobacco-free campus, effective Jan. 1, 2019.

 

Campus Notes

Nurcan Atalan-Helicke, associate professor of environmental studies and sciences, published an article in Gastronomica.

 

Sarah DiPasquale, assistant professor of dance, and Caroline Kelberman '17 published an article in Arts & Health.

 

A book by Matthew Hockenos, Harriet Johnson Toadvine ’56 Professor in 20th-Century History, was reviewed in The Wall Street Journal.

 

Evan Mack, teaching professor of music, has been named an Musical America Top 30 Professional of the Year.

 

June Paul, assistant professor of social work, received the Outstanding Social Work Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Society for Social Work and Research.

Pat Choukeir is senior project coordinator for the associate dean of the faculty for student academic affairs. She administers credit-bearing internships, student opportunity funding and the Honors Convocation.

Long-term parking for winter break

If you plan to leave your vehicle behind during winter break, it must be parked in Northwoods Lower Parking Lot and . If you will be on campus with your vehicle, you do not need to fill out the form.

 

Bread sale

A variety of fresh breads will be available for $4 a loaf, Friday, Dec. 14 in the Atrium Café, 3-5 p.m.
