Folks:
As you are aware, yesterday
afternoon a problem was discovered in the library with Visual
Basic where the program would unexpectedly quit (without any warning)
whenever a model was opened. What we have discovered was that,
for whatever reason, the fix to the problem that you experienced
a few weeks ago was not fully
deployed in the library. Although it appeared to work fine, any
change to the underlying model caused the program to stop working
in the library (Dana 181 has
continued to work without a problem). We discovered the problem
late last night and have been working to fix the problem this
morning.
One of the issues we face is
that, as you know, it is often difficult to work at the computers
in the library as they are in constant use. So, throughout the
day Bill
Duffy, the manager of our consulting services group (bduffy@skidmore.edu),
will be emailing your class list with an update as to which library
machines have been
fixed. As of now (10:40 am), the following library computers
are working:
3
4
5
6
7
8
9
10
12
23
28
29
31
32
33
41
We expect to have the rest working later today. Keep in mind that Dana 181 is also working. Bill will send you updates throughout the day.
I apologize for the inconvenience
this has caused, but it looks like we may (finally) have this
problem under control. Please let us know if you experience any
additional quirks or problems (and thank you, Rob, for bringing
this to our attention so quickly).
